During the session, Deputy Director of Foreign Language News Production at Sputnik Viktoria Polikarpova and Advisor Oleg Dmitriev shared their insights with students on the latest trends in the media industry, the role of artificial intelligence in news production, and strategies for combating the spread of fake news.
“Think critically, and follow a clear strategy when evaluating the accuracy of information you're verifying,” Viktoria Polikarpova told the students. "Take a moment to think twice, and if you have even the slightest doubt, don’t publish or share the information – because as a journalist, you bear the greatest responsibility for this information.”

“This was a milestone event in the history of Sputnik Pro,” Oleg Dmitriev added. “It wasn’t just a lecture or a workshop – it was an open and honest exchange of ideas between two teams: Sputnik and Daffodil. I’m truly grateful to our colleagues in Bangladesh for sharing their perspectives on the future of the media industry. This kind of dialogue is incredibly valuable.”

“The inaugural event held today between Sputnik and Daffodil International University of Bangladesh was a resounding success among the staff and students alike. Students complimented the speakers on their eloquence in engaging with these contemporary problem issues in the contemporary media environment in a highly understandable and relatable manner. Staff listening also had only words of praise for the knowledge and skills of the speakers in getting across an objective non-Western centric perspective. Everyone is looking forward with anticipation to future events,” said Professor of the Department of Journalism, Media and Communications at Daffodil International University Greg Simons.
The event was part of a lecture series for Russian and foreign universities titled “The Global Majority and the Challenges of Neocolonialism”, supported by the Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy and the Center for Humanitarian and Educational Programs.
