"The third model of the Superjet aircraft has joined the flight test program. The fully import-substituted airliner developed by PJSC Yakovlev (part of the United Aircraft Corporation of Rostec State Corporation) made its maiden flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur," Rostec said in a statement.
Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov has congratulated the aircraft builders on the successful flight, adding that the Superjet would have to perform about 130 certification flights, including special tests at extremely low and high temperatures.
During the flight, all domestic systems demonstrated stable operation. The airplane, equipped with a Russian-made PD-8 engine, showed good handiness and sustainability in the air. The flight, which lasted about 40 minutes, took place at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters (1,860 miles) at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour (310 miles per hour).
"The Superjet aircraft import substitution program has reached the finish line. The cooperation of Rostec enterprises has done a tremendous job. About 40 imported systems and units have been replaced on the airliner, including the most important component - engines ... Now we are proceeding within the established schedule," First Deputy Director General of Rostec Vladimir Artyakov said.
On March 17, Rostec said that a Superjet with a Russian-made PD-8 engine had successfully completed its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
