"In response to the massive attacks by Ukrainian UAVs in the regions of Russia, the Russian army is striking exclusively at military facilities and enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine," the Russian MoD said.
Ukraine with the support of individual European countries takes provocative steps aimed at disrupting the negotiation process on Ukraine, the ministry added.
Russian air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 2,331 Ukrainian drones from the evening of May 20 to the morning of May 27, with more than half of them outside the special military operation zone, the Russian MoD added.
Since May 20, Ukraine has increased the number of attacks using Western-made drones and rockets on civilian targets in Russia, the ministry said.
"On May 21, a temporary deployment point and a depot for rocket and artillery weapons of the mechanised brigade of the armed forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region, as well as a temporary deployment point for foreign mercenaries in the area of the Svyatogorsk settlement of the Donetsk People's Republic and an ammunition depot of the operational tactical group Kharkov in the Kharkov region were hit," the ministry said.
Russian forces hit the Pavlograd chemical plant, an aircraft repair shop, military airfields, and air defence radars in the Krivoy Rog and Nikolayev regions on May 22, the ministry added.
On 24 May, Russia struck Ukrainian missile and drone factories, a signals hub, and military sites in Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv regions, according to the MoD.
On May 25, a large-scale strike involving long-range precision weapons and drones targeted multiple Ukrainian defence manufacturers. Facilities hit included those producing missile components, electronics, explosives, and drone technologies across Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Dnipropetrovsk, Ternopil, Odesa, and Kiev regions.
Also affected were signals intelligence and satellite comms centres in Kiev region, drone assembly workshops in Mykolaiv, Kharkov, Chernihiv, and Sumy, and command sites at the Gogolev airfield.
On May 26, mass strikes destroyed infrastructure at the Starokostiantyniv airbase (Khmelnytskyi region), ammunition depots of two heavy mechanised brigades (Kharkov region and DPR), a command post of an S-300 air defence unit, and a temporary base of Ukrainian special operations forces in Odesa region.
