The flight, en route to London, came down shortly after take-off, claiming the lives of 275 people—241 on board and 34 on the ground.
The report says that on-site work has been completed, with drone footage and documentation fully collected. Wreckage from the crash site has been transported to a secure location near the airport.
"Both engines were recovered from the crash site and moved to an airport hangar," the AAIB stated.
According to early findings, the fuel control switches for both engines shifted from the "run" to "cut-off" position moments after take-off—an anomaly that stunned the flight crew. Cockpit voice recordings captured a brief exchange between the pilots in the seconds following the incident.
“Why did you shut down the engines?” one pilot asked.
“I didn’t,” the other replied.
The report does not offer any conclusions at this stage, and no safety recommendations have been issued concerning Boeing 787-8 engines. The AAIB emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, and a final report will follow in due course.
The tragic crash sent shockwaves through India and the international aviation community. The aircraft ploughed into a residential area just outside Ahmedabad, causing significant destruction and loss of life on the ground. The full cause of the crash remains under investigation.
