"The Afghan authorities have met all the conditions necessary for official international recognition, in line with the peace agreement on Afghanistan reached in Doha in 2020," said Khairkhwa In an interview with the Bakhtar News Agency.
He added that security has been restored, drug production halted, and corruption eradicated in Afghanistan.
“These achievements are important not only for Afghanistan, but for the entire world,” the minister emphasised.
Khairkhwa also noted that several countries are already engaging with the Islamic Emirate, and in his view, are close to formally recognising the current government.
Russia remains the only country to have officially recognised the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
However, China, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Pakistan have appointed ambassadors to Kabul — a step seen as moving toward recognition.
