Russia Hands Over 1,000 Ukrainian Bodies, Ukraine Returns 19

MOSCOW, July 17 (Sputnik) - Russia has handed over another 1,000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine as part of the Istanbul agreements, Russian presidential aide and head of the Russian delegation at talks with Ukraine Vladimir Medinsky said on Thursday.

"In continuation of the Istanbul agreements, another 1,000 bodies of Ukrainian armed forces soldiers were handed over to Ukraine today," Madinsky wrote on Telegram.
In return, Russia received 19 bodies of dead soldiers from Ukraine, the official added.
A source close to the Russian negotiating group told Sputnik on Thursday that Russia will hand over to the Ukrainian side a total of 3,000 more bodies of Ukrainian soldiers.
In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to transfer to Ukraine another 3,000 bodies of dead Ukrainian servicepeople, in addition to the 6,000 previously transferred.
"[A total of] 3,000 bodies will be handed over to the Ukrainian side, as promised by the president," the source said.
