"It is something that will be worked out among the three countries in a mutually convenient manner, and we will let you know as and when that happens at an appropriate time when the meeting is to take place," Jaiswal told the press.
He described it as a consultative mechanism where the three countries "come and discuss global issues and regional issues of interest to them."
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told the Izvestia newspaper in an interview published on Thursday that Russia was talking to India and China about reviving the three-party forum. Russia expects the talks to resume once ties between India and China have improved enough for them to work in a trilateral format.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference on Thursday that cooperation between China, India and Russia not only served the countries’ interests but also contributed to peace, security, stability and progress in the region and in the world. He underscored Beijing’s readiness to maintain communication with both Moscow and New Delhi to further develop three-party cooperation.
