"Today, the Indian Army is not only effectively handling current challenges but is also rapidly evolving into a transformative, modern, and future-oriented force," said General Dwivedi. "As part of this initiative, new integrated brigades, named 'Rudra,' are being formed. I approved this decision yesterday."
The new "Rudra" brigades will consist of a mix of combat components, including infantry, mechanized infantry, armored units, artillery, special forces, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Specialized logistics and combat support units will also be incorporated to enhance operational efficiency.
General Dwivedi further explained that these developments are in line with the creation of more agile and lethal special forces units. For instance, lightweight "Bhairav" battalions, designed for swift strikes on the borders, have already been established. Each infantry battalion will now include a drone squadron, while artillery capabilities have been significantly enhanced.
This shift is part of India's larger strategy to build a modern, self-reliant military, integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional combat strategies to ensure national security in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
