Russian lawmaker Leonid Slutsky said the United States and its European allies are trying to turn India and China into "instruments of pressure" against Russia through secondary sanctions and tariffs, but this plan will not work.
The deputy believes that neither China nor India intends to pay "tribute" to those claiming global hegemony.
"The desire of Euro-Atlantic powers to use secondary sanctions and tariffs to turn Beijing and New Delhi into a 'lever of pressure' on Moscow is doomed to fail. The global majority is unlikely to play by the rules of the Western minority. That would be nonsense," the lawmaker added.
He further said that India and China have openly rejected the US pressure. India's Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has categorically stated that India's relations with Russia have their own independent importance and they should not be seen from the perspective of any third country.
