India Freezes US Arms Deal Plans in Response to Tariffs - Reuters

India has suspended plans to buy new weapons and aircraft from the US after tariffs were imposed, the Reuters reported on Friday citing sources from Indian government.

According to the report, India had been considering a visit by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Washington in the near future to finalise announcements regarding certain defense purchases, however, the trip has since been called off.
The US administration has imposed an additional tariff on Indian imports entering the US, which is set to take effect on August 27. The total tariff on Indian goods will reach 50%, making it one of the highest in the world.
