Russian air defence systems destroyed and intercepted 21 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory overnight, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.

"During the past night, air defence systems on duty intercepted and destroyed 21 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles," the statement read.

The ministry said 11 drones were shot down over the Volgograd Region, eight over the Rostov Region, and one over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions each.
