"Israel continues its bloody attacks, putting pressure on Lebanon. It is necessary to stop the attacks so that negotiation process can begin, which will determine its own format for achieving results. Lebanon cannot remain outside the process of ending crises in the region," Aoun was quoted as saying by the presidential palace on X.
Lebanon has repeatedly accuse Israel of systematically violating its sovereignty in breach of the November 2024 ceasefire agreement. Israel maintains military presence in five strategic locations in southern Lebanon, including the northern village of Ghajar, which the Lebanese authorities view as an ongoing occupation and a violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
The Israeli military claims that its strikes target Lebanese movement Hezbollah's military infrastructure and its military commanders. Israel has vowed to continue striking Lebanon to eliminate the perceived threat posed by the Shiite resistance.
