Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said that during the phone conversation, special attention was given to the Ukrainian crisis. Putin emphasized Russia’s interest in achieving a peaceful, political, and diplomatic resolution.
The Russian president noted that Russian forces currently hold strategic initiative across the entire line of contact in the special military operation zone.
Ushakov added that, in these conditions, Ukraine has resorted to terrorist methods, striking civilian targets and energy infrastructure.
Trump, in turn, highlighted that ending the conflict in Ukraine could open vast opportunities for future cooperation between Russia and the United States.
The discussion followed recent reports that the U.S. is considering supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, a move Putin warned could damage bilateral relations.
