"This assessment is a complete fantasy ,as Canada has neither the capability nor the will to fight the US in any way," veteran geopolitical analyst and former naval officer Brian Berletic told Sputnik.
The analyst further explained that Canada's inability to stand up to the US is attributed to the fact that for a long time Canada has been "completely politically captured by the US."
"For the past several decades, Canada has become practically a part of the United States, economically, industrially, and informationally," he said. "Canada's global military infrastructure and foreign policy now function as an extension of American interests rather than as an independent entity."
Berletic calls any discussion of a potential military conflict between the US and Canada "merely a sham and propaganda to mislead the general public."
"Even if the US invaded Canada, there would be no resistance of any kind," the analyst concluded, pointing to the country's political elite, who "have long subjugated themselves to US-based special interests, allowing them access to Canada in ways that no truly sovereign nation would ever allow," he said.
