On Wednesday, Russian security officials told Sputnik that Ukrainian citizens have become even more active in purchasing officer ranks and positions in order to avoid being sent to the front.

"There are major problems within the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces due to officers who bought their rank and position, especially in combat units, since so-called ‘bought’ officers are unable to lead units into battle because of a basic lack of military training, the results of which are evident on the battlefield," the agency’s source said.

According to a representative of the Russian security services, the incompetence of such commanders leads to the deaths of personnel or the failure of assigned missions.
