"Mass displacement across Lebanon has forced nearly 700,000 people – including around 200,000 children – from their homes, adding to the tens of thousands already uprooted from previous escalations," the organization said in a statement on Monday.
The statement added that at least 83 children had been killed and 254 had been injured as a result of the intensified fighting since March 2.
"In the last 28 months, 329 children have reportedly been killed in Lebanon and 1,632 were injured. In just the last six days, the number of children killed has increased by 25 per cent, with a devastating figure of 412 children killed," the statement read.
On March 2, several rockets were fired from Lebanon toward Israel, with Hezbollah claiming responsibility. In response, the Israeli army launched massive strikes on populated areas across the country, including the capital. Hundreds of thousands of citizens began fleeing their homes, seeking refuge in safer areas of Lebanon.
