At least 11 dead and 50 people injured in Pakistan and Afghanistan after an earthquake of 6.5 magnitude hit the countries. The quakes were so strong that tremors were felt in Delhi, roughly 1100 kms away from the origin.

At least 11 are dead and 50 more have been injured following a 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan on Tuesday night. The quakes were so strong that the tremors were felt in Delhi, roughly 1,100 km away from the epicenter.The epicenter was located 38 kilometers (23 miles) southeast of the village of Jurm in the Afghan province of Badakhshan, and the source was detected at a depth of 191 kilometres at 16:47 GMT (9:17 pm in Afghanistan and 10:17 in New Delhi, Tuesday).Pakistan's Rescue 1122 service spokesperson, told local media that nine people were killed and and more were injured in northwestern Pakistan, as the roofs of several houses collapsed.In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province hospitals, about 44 people are being treated, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority. However, many media reports suggest that hundreds of people are injured.In Afghanistan's northeastern Laghman province, at least two people were killed and eight others injured.

Most parts of South Asia regions are seismically active and prone to earthquakes because the Indian tectonic plate, is pushing northward into the Eurasian plate.
At least 11 are dead and 50 more have been injured following a 6.5 magnitude earthquake that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan on Tuesday night.
The quakes were so strong that the tremors were felt in Delhi, roughly 1,100 km away from the epicenter.
The epicenter was located 38 kilometers (23 miles) southeast of the village of Jurm in the Afghan province of Badakhshan, and the source was detected at a depth of 191 kilometres at 16:47 GMT (9:17 pm in Afghanistan and 10:17 in New Delhi, Tuesday).

According to Pakistani state media, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has requested the disaster management officials to remain vigilant about aftershocks.
