In the wake of surging coronavirus cases in India, the Delhi government called an emergency review meeting on the epideomological situation on Thursday.On Wednesday, Delhi reported more than 300 COVID-19 cases; the last time such a number of infections was registered was in Delhi was in August last year.Meanwhile, the positivity rate in Delhi has climbed to 13.89 percent, according to data shared by the city's Department of Health.The meeting called by Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj will be attended by the special secretary of the health department, the nodal officer for oxygen and testing, and medical directors of several hospitals, among others.Meanwhile, health officials and doctors are urging people to voluntarily wear masks and follow COVID-appropriate behavior in public places.Covid Cases Surge Across IndiaIndia recorded 3,016 new COVID cases in the past 24 hours, a 40 percent jump in comparison to Wednesday. The total number of active cases have increased to 13,509.Meanwhile, the country reported 14 deaths due to COVID, three were reported from Maharashtra state, two from Delhi, one by Himachal Pradesh state, and eight were reported in Kerala in the past 24 hours.Last week, the federal government convened a high-level meeting to review the situation and public health preparedness. It was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India has reported 3,016 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The last time over 3,000 cases were registered was on October 2, when India reported a total of 3,375 cases.
