Extreme Yakut rider Duguidan Vinokurov reached the end of his almost 800-kilometre route from the Pole of Cold, the village of Oymyakon, to the settlement of Seymchan in Magadan on Thursday.

The aim of the project was to prove to the world that the Yakutian horse breed is unique. These horses are kept at minus 60°C degrees in winter at the Cold Pole, grazing freely and foraging for food under the snow. In summer, when the temperature in Yakutia is over 30°C degrees, these animals can easily withstand the intense heat.He added that his friends and like-minded people accompanied him on the road in a truck. They cooked food and pitched tents for the night. Local farmers helped with hay for the horses. Duguidan Vinokurov is famous for promoting the Yakut horse breed. In 2021-2022 he travelled on horseback from another Pole of Cold, the Yuchugei settlement in Yakutia, to Moscow on the back of a Yakut horse. Vinokurov travelled the Oymyakon-Seymchan route on two horses.

The aim of the project was to prove to the world that the Yakutian horse breed is unique.
These horses are kept at minus 60°C degrees in winter at the Cold Pole, grazing freely and foraging for food under the snow.
In summer, when the temperature in Yakutia is over 30°C degrees, these animals can easily withstand the intense heat.
"We spent more than a month on a difficult road. When we left Oymyakon, it was minus 58°C degrees. Yes, you could feel the cold. But I had very [warm] clothes. And now I'm wearing fox fur clothes, you could call them spring clothes. But it could withstand extreme cold. The hardest part was crossing the Kolyma River, the horses were frightened by passing cars. But we made it," Duguidan Vinokurov told Sputnik.
