Several groups of farmers have made a public appeal to maintain peace while demanding that the vigilante Monu Manesar be arrested during a Khap panchayat village council meeting in Haryana’s Nuh district.A large gathering of khaps, farmer unions, and religious leaders from Haryana held a 'Mahapanchayat' in the Hisar district on Wednesday and Thursday to condemn the violence and passed several resolutions calling for peace and harmony in the region, reported Indian media.The meeting was attended by nearly 2,000 farmers from Hindu, Muslim, and Sikh communities, reported The Indian Express.Who Is Monu Manesar? Mohit Yadav, popularly known as Monu Manesar, is a 30-year-old leader of a cow vigilante group based in Haryana's Mewat district. The controversial figure is often seen making provocative statements. He usually posts pictures carrying firearms, such as machine guns, on his social media feed.It is alleged that two days before the violence erupted, Manesar goaded Hindus into participating in a religious procession in huge numbers.He is named in at least two First Information Reports (FIRs) on the violent incident, but so far continues to evade authorities.Following the violence in Nuh, clashes were likewise reported in Gurugram but later contained.“113 FIRs have been filed, and 305 people have been arrested in the matter. The police are interrogating 106 people in custody,” Indian media reported.

Communal violence erupted in Haryana’s Nuh on July 31 when a group tried to stop a religious procession organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) by pelting stones at them. Several vehicles were set ablaze, causing six deaths.
