Several other countries have started evacuating their citizens from the nation, which is now ruled by military authorities."In the light of the prevailing situation, Indian nationals whose presence is not essential are advised to leave the country as soon as possible. They may bear in mind that airspace is currently closed. When departing through a land border, utmost precautions may be taken to ensure safety and security," said Bagchi on Friday.

unrest, and violence in the West African nation.
As per official figures, about 250 Indians live in Niger. Several other countries have started evacuating their citizens from the nation, which is now ruled by military authorities.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the Indian government is closely monitoring the situation in Niger and asked the people to reconsider their plans if they are traveling to Niamey, the capital of the country.
"In the light of the prevailing situation, Indian nationals whose presence is not essential are advised to leave the country as soon as possible. They
may bear in mind that airspace is currently closed. When departing through a land border, utmost precautions may be taken to ensure safety and security," said Bagchi on Friday.
