The
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indians living in Niger to leave the country following the military takeover,
unrest, and violence in the West African nation.
As per official figures, about 250 Indians live in Niger. Several other countries have started evacuating their citizens from the nation, which is now ruled by military authorities.
MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said the Indian government is closely monitoring the situation in Niger and asked the people to reconsider their plans if they are traveling to Niamey, the capital of the country.
