Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar has been chosen as the interim prime minister of Pakistan on Saturday, reported local media.The decision was taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and outgoing opposition leader Raja Riaz after several rounds of meetings since August 10.Pakistan President Arif Avis's order gave Sharif and his government three days to name an interim leader. Kakar from the Balochistan Awami Party was elected as an independent senator in 2018 and his term will end in March 2024.

Pakistan's National Assembly was formally dissolved on August 9 and as per the country’s law, an election is supposed to be held within 90 days.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar has been chosen as the interim prime minister of Pakistan on Saturday,
reported local media.The decision was taken by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and outgoing opposition leader Raja Riaz after several rounds of meetings since August 10.
“We had earlier decided that the caretaker PM should be someone from a smaller province and a non-controversial personality. Our aim was to remove the sense of deprivation in small provinces,” reported Dawn, quoting Riaz.
Pakistan President Arif Avis's order gave Sharif and his government three days to name an interim leader.
Kakar from the Balochistan Awami Party was elected as an independent
senator in 2018 and his term will end in March 2024.
