A prominent member of the Indian opposition party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday described Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a "paper tiger". Kavitha also suggested that former Congress chief Gandhi reflect on his public utterances as she alleged he doesn't understand the local situation, politics, or respect local traditions of the Telangana region."Next time you come here, don't just go to a dosa stall and eat dosa (a stuffed pancake popular in south India), but go to the mother of a martyr of Telangana," Kavitha told Gandhi.Gandhi began his three-day election campaign in Telangana on 18 October. During his visit he criticised BRS and state chief, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, and the Rao-led Telangana government. He also accused the BRS of being India's most corrupt party.

In the run-up to the forthcoming state elections, the Indian opposition parties appear to have started targeting each other, one striking example being the recent case when a BRS politician made harsh remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
A prominent member of the Indian opposition party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Saturday described Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a "paper tiger".
In a statement, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, a politician in the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party and daughter of Telangana's state chief, said that Rahul Gandhi is not a 'Babbar Sher' (a lion), he is a 'paper tiger', because everything he learns comes to him from speeches prepared for him in advance.
Kavitha also suggested that former
Congress chief Gandhi reflect on his public utterances as she alleged he doesn't understand the local situation, politics, or respect local traditions of the Telangana region.
"Next time you come here, don't just go to a dosa stall and eat dosa (a stuffed pancake popular in south India), but go to the mother of a martyr of Telangana," Kavitha told Gandhi.
The criticism came days after Gandhi accused the Telangana government of corruption at a election rally as the clock starts ticking for the Telangana State Assembly elections.
Gandhi began his three-day election campaign in Telangana on 18 October. During his visit he criticised BRS and state chief, Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, and the Rao-led Telangana government. He also accused the BRS of being India's most
corrupt party.
“When you dreamed about Telangana state, you thought people's rule would happen in the state. But it is now evident that Telangana is under the rule of one family. The whole control of Telangana state is in the hands of one family and corruption in the state is the highest in the country," Gandhi stated while addressing his party workers during his political campaign.
