Russia Likely to Be Guest of Honour at World Book Fair in New Delhi in 2025
The New Delhi World Book Fair is organised every year in February. Saudi Arabia is the guest of honour this year, while Russia is likely to take the centre stage at the prestigious event next year.
Russia is likely to be the guest of honour at the New Delhi World Book Fair 2025, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in India Roman Babushkin told Russian media.
“The organisers of the event are now considering the possibility of inviting Russia next year as the main guest to this one of the largest book exhibitions in the world”, Babushkin told Russian media on the sidelines of the fair taking place in India’s capital New Delhi.
Babushkin further stated that literature plays a special role in the
development of India-Russia ties. He noted that the huge number of visitors at the Russian stand shows the
interest of Indians in Russian literature.
“Literature united us. We initially allowed our countries to learn about each other and in many ways gave rise to the deep interest on the basis of which our relations are built. Our countries got to know each other not because of wars or colonial conquests but because of literature”, Babushkin said.
The
New Delhi World Book Fair is being held at the Pragati Maidan on 10-18 February. The organisers told the Russian media that around 25,000-30,000 visitors are expected at the event every day.
More than 100 participants from 35 countries are featuring in the exposition.
