With an aim to boost indigenous technology innovation in the defense sectors, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched the ADITI scheme during the DefConnect 2024 event in New Delhi on Monday.The ADITI scheme, part of the iDEX framework by the Ministry of Defence's Department of Defence Production (DDP), aims to create a 'Technology Watch Tool'. This tool will bridge the gap between the demands and needs of the modern Armed Forces and the capabilities of the defense innovation ecosystem.Singh announced that the first edition of ADITI will have a total of 17 challenges, encompassing various aspects of the Indian Army (3), Indian Navy (5), Indian Air Force (5), and Defence Space Agency (4).These start-ups are poised to revolutionize defense capabilities, advance national security, and safeguard national interests through their groundbreaking innovations in artificial intelligence and robotics, undersea detection and communication, unmanned aerial vehicles, wearable technology, blast and ballistics proof structures and equipment, smart textiles, and cyber security.

The Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX (ADITI) scheme will empower eligible start-ups by providing a grant of up to INR 250 million ($3.015 million) to support their research, development, and innovation in defense technology.
With an aim to boost indigenous technology innovation in the defense sectors, India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh launched the ADITI scheme during the DefConnect 2024 event in New Delhi on Monday.
Speaking to a gathering of industry leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and policymakers, the Defense Minister expressed confidence that the scheme will
foster the innovation of start-ups and propel the country to great strides in the field of technology.
The ADITI scheme, part of the iDEX framework by the Ministry of Defence's Department of Defence Production (DDP), aims to create a 'Technology Watch Tool'. This tool will bridge the gap between the demands and needs of the modern Armed Forces and the capabilities of the
defense innovation ecosystem.Singh stated that in order to inspire young innovators, iDEX has been enhanced to iDEX Prime, with support increasing from INR 15 million ($180,939) to INR 100 million ($1.20 million).
