India Increased Exports of Tea, Coffee, and Spices to Russia by 1.5 Times in August

India’s exports of tea, coffee beans, and spices to Russia in August grew by 1.5 times compared to July, reaching nearly $9 million, according to Sputnik's data analysis from India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The total value of tea, coffee, and spices purchased by Russia in August was $8.95 million, marking the highest monthly export volume from India since June. Compared to August of last year, these imports increased by nearly a quarter.
In August, India’s most exported product to Russia was tea, amounting to $5.6 million, followed by coffee beans at $2.2 million. Among spices, the most popular items were whole cumin seeds ($400,000), pepper ($360,000), and cassia powder (Chinese cinnamon) at $150,000. Additionally, Russia purchased $8.31 million worth of instant coffee and $850,000 worth of roasted chicory and other coffee substitutes from India.
In terms of tea imports, Russia ranked fifth in the world in August, behind the UAE ($15.8 million), the United Kingdom ($10.2 million), Iraq ($9.4 million), and the United States ($8.2 million).
For coffee beans, Russia ranked ninth among importers of Indian coffee. The top five countries importing Indian coffee included Italy ($31.3 million), Germany ($16.6 million), Libya ($7.3 million), Belgium ($7 million), and the UAE ($5 million).
From January to August this year, India’s total exports of tea, coffee beans, and spices to Russia amounted to $77.7 million, nearly a third higher than the same period last year. By the end of 2023, India’s exports in this category to Russia were valued at $92.3 million.
