In October 2024, India's vegetable imports from Russia practically quintupled, with legumes making up the bulk, according to India’s national statistics agency data, collected by Sputnik.From January to October 2024 (with no data yet released for later months), Russia exported $435.4 million worth of vegetables and root crops to India, a 23.4-fold surge compared to the same period in 2023.In 2024, Russian food exports to India more than doubled, surpassing $2.31 billion. The top products included sunflower oil, peas, and soybean oil. Meanwhile, the leading suppliers to India were Tanzania ($126.1 million), Myanmar ($112.3 million), Canada ($109.2 million), Mozambique ($76.9 million), and Brazil ($27.3 million). Additionally, India imported 3.4 million metric tons of Russian fertilizers, which constituted 28% of its total imports. Russia retained its status as the 10th largest supplier, consistent with its position in October 2023.

In October 2024, India’s vegetable imports from Russia rocketed to $17.1 million—nearly five times higher than the previous year and 20% greater than in September, with peas making up the bulk at $15.7 million, followed by chickpeas at $1.1 million and lentils at $270,000 among others.
