ST. PETERSBURG (Sputnik) - The broad international representation at the Nevsky Ecological Congress, the Victory Parade, and the Kazan Forum confirms the West's complete inability to implement its plans to isolate Russia, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko said.
The 11th Nevsky International Ecological Congress will be held on May 22–23 in St. Petersburg. It is being organized by the Russian government, the Federation Council, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) of the CIS member states. Matvienko said representatives from 76 countries will take part in the congress.
"Such representation at the congress venues, along with other important events of recent days – the Victory Parade, significant official visits, the Kazan Forum – confirms the West's complete inability to implement its plans to isolate Russia," the upper house speaker said in an interview with the Rossiyskaya Gazeta government daily.
She said the project to isolate Russia can be considered closed.
"The West should completely forget about it and never remember it again," Matvienko said.
