18:55 01.07.2025 (Updated: 20:18 01.07.2025) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he might unleash the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on entrepreneur Elon Musk, following the billionaire's latest sharp criticism of the One Big Beautiful Bill currently under consideration in Congress.
"We'll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies," Trump told reporters at the White House.
In response to Trump's comments, Musk wrote in an X post that it is very "tempting" to escalate the dispute but stated that he will refrain from it "for now."
