18:10 19.08.2025 (Updated: 18:20 19.08.2025) WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that it is impossible for Ukraine to return Crimea and become a NTO member.
"Both of those things are impossible," Trump told Fox News when asked a relevant question.
He further said that no American troops will be deployed to defend the borders of Ukraine following a peace agreement with Russia and even after the current administration vacates office.
"Well, you have my assurance and I'm President, and I'm just trying to stop people from being killed," Trump told Fox News when asked what assurances he has that US soldiers wouldn't end up defending Ukrainian borders following his presidential term.
