U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that his use of tariff threats helped stop a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan. Speaking about his foreign policy approach, Trump said that eight wars has been enede "because of tariffs."
He recounted that tensions between the two countries had risen sharply, with "seven planes shot down," and that Pakistan’s prime minister later credited him with "saving millions of lives."
"I said, look, if you're going to fight each other, I'm not going to do business with you. We're going to put on a 200 percent tariff, which will make it impossible for you to deal," Trump said during an interview.
India has previously emphasised that the conflict was resolved bilaterally.
