CAIRO (Sputnik) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi and Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has discussed projects for a Russian industrial zone near the Suez Canal and El Dabaa nuclear power plant (NPP), the Egyptian leader's office said on Monday.
"President Abdel Fattah Sisi received Secretary of the Russian Security Council of Sergei Shoigu," the office said in a statement, adding that the meeting focused on projects for a Russian industrial zone and El Dabaa NPP.
During the visit, Shoigu will also meet with national security adviser Faiza Abou el-Naga, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Defence and Military Production General Abdel Meguid Sakr, and other senior officials.
Key topics on the agenda include advancing top-level agreements, particularly in military and defence-technical cooperation, according to Russian media citing the Security Council. The discussions will also cover enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and intelligence agencies, with emphasis on information security, counter-terrorism, and anti-extremism efforts, the report added.
Focus will also be placed on promoting Russia’s strategic initiatives, especially in trade, the economy, energy, and food security.
Sergei Shoigu arrived in Cairo on 9 November, heading a delegation that features officials from the Interior, Foreign, Justice, and Industry and Trade Ministries, the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Rosfinmonitoring, the National Guard, Rosoboronexport; Roscosmos, Rosatom, and other governmental bodies.
