Indian recruitment agencies are recording a rapid surge of interest among citizens in working in Russia, which is becoming one of the most talked-about destinations for labor migration, Shabnam Said, Business Development Manager for India at New Alfa International, told Sputnik.
“Right now in India it’s truly a hot topic. Everyone is discussing how they can go to Russia and in which sectors they can work. You can see for yourself the huge influx of people and the response we’ve received here,” she said on the sidelines of the Russia-India Business Forum, organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Said noted that many candidates come with a direct request for vacancies specifically in Russian projects.
“There are numerous projects currently being implemented in Russia that require Indian specialists — not only laborers but also office professionals. People are ready to go; they’re literally eager to do so. For the Indian labor market, this is a very attractive direction, and that’s why we are here,” she emphasized.
According to her, over the past year the geography of Indian job seekers’ interests has noticeably changed.
“All the attention that used to be focused on the Middle East is now increasingly shifting toward Russia. This is a new trend and it is gaining momentum quickly,” the company representative said.
She added that the oil and gas industry and the construction sector are generating the greatest interest.
