Russia to Build High-Powered Power Plant on Moon
Russian space agency Roscosmos has signed a key agreement to provide secure long-term power to lunar rovers, scientific observatories and infrastructure of the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS) as part of its Moon mission.
The contract, scheduled to be implemented between 2025 and 2036, aims to build advanced spacecraft, conduct rigorous ground testing and experiments, conduct in-flight testing, and establish infrastructure on the lunar surface.
"This project is an important step towards establishing a permanent scientific lunar station and moving from a single mission to a long-term lunar research program," Roscosmos said.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said in June that Russia plans to gradually shift its work from the International Space Station (ISS) to the national orbital station by 2030.
