MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian economy has grown three times faster than the eurozone economy over the past three years, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Thursday.
"If we look at the entire three-year period, the growth rate is 9.7%. In 2023-2024, we saw unprecedentedly high GDP growth rates, above 4%. For reference, what does 9.7% actually mean? Compared to the eurozone, for example, the three-year growth rate there is only 3.1%. That means that the Russian economy is growing three times faster," Novak told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
The Russian economy is showing resilience despite global uncertainties, trade wars and unprecedented sanctions pressure, the official said. In the first nine months of this year, the GDP growth rate was 1%, which is in line with the Economic Development Ministry’s forecast, he added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out the same 9.7% growth compared to the 3.1% in the eurozone last week.
