The Ukrainian drone attack on President Vladimir Putin’s Novgorod residence took place on Sunday, immediately after Volodymr Zelensky held talks with US President Donald Trump in Florida, according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed a deep sense of concern over the Ukrainian terrorist attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region.
“Deeply concerned by reports of the targeting of the residence of the President of the Russian Federation,” Modi posted on X on Tuesday morning.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia’s negotiating position would be “reviewed,” but it won’t withdraw from US-mediated talks.
The Indian PM emphasised that the ongoing diplomatic efforts offer the most viable path toward ending hostilities and achieving peace.
“We urge all concerned to remain focused on these efforts and to avoid any actions that could undermine them,” PM Modi said.
On Monday evening, Lavrov said Ukraine had launched a terrorist attack, involving around 91 long-range strike drones, on the residence of Putin in the Novgorod region.
The attack was foiled, Lavrov said.
Warning of retribution for the brazen act, the Russian foreign minister stated that targets for retaliatory strikes and timing of their delivery have been determined by Russia's Armed Forces.
The attack figured in yesterday evening’s telephone call between Putin and Trump, with the latter expressing his anger over the incident, the Kremlin said.
