Lebanon has repeatedly accused Israel of systematically violating its sovereignty, despite the November 2024 ceasefire deal. Israel Targets Senior Hezbollah Officials in Strikes on Lebanon: IDF Commander
The initial wave of Israeli airstrikes hit high-ranking officials from Shiite movement Hezbollah, along with its headquarters and infrastructure, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Northern Command Chief Major General Rafi Milo said on Monday.
"Shortly after Hezbollah’s rocket fire, in accordance with planning, we launched a first broad wave of strikes in Beirut and southern Lebanon, targeting senior operatives, headquarters, and terrorist infrastructure. We are also acting to evacuate civilians in southern Lebanon ahead of further strikes," Milo was quoted as saying by the IDF on Telegram.
