US must rethink its India strategy as the country asserts independence, balancing ties with China and countering foreign influence in geopolitics.
America must not make the mistake of assuming that India is a vassal state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician Savio Rodrigues has told Sputnik India. The expert suggested that Washington may be approaching India as if it were a modern-day East India Company, attempting to exert control through foreign corporations and representatives.

"They might think sending figures like Bill Gates or IT companies into India will give them leverage," the analyst said. "They really need to relook at their strategy because India is not going to bow down to them."
The analyst added that some former Trump administration officials have reportedly referred to Indian representatives as "actors" in discussions about oil and tariffs. "We’re not actors, we know who we are. We don’t need to blow a trumpet to tell the world our face is glossy," they said.
India’s foreign policy, the analyst explained, is not driven by opposition to the US or alignment with China. "India is taking a balanced approach equidistant from both. It is not in a fight with the US or China; the fight is between them. India is building its power elsewhere."
Regarding India’s relationship with China, the analyst claimed that the country may find more alignment with China than with US, citing perceived biases in US policy. "America will always come from a white supremacist mindset," they said.
On domestic security issues, the analyst discussed the recent Manipur conflict, saying that it was primarily fueled by narcotics trade estimated at around seventy thousand crore rupees, rather than religious tensions. "Beneath the narcotics trade is a deeper geopolitical game," he noted.
The analyst also highlighted alleged US interest in the region, referencing a claim by former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina about American plans to carve out a Christian nation from parts of Bangladesh, Myanmar, and India. "CIA involvement tends to follow major narcotics production," they said, mentioning figures such as Matthew VanDyke operating in northeastern India and Myanmar.
