Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov announced the complete liberation of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) by Russian troops.
"The liberation of the Lugansk People's Republic is fully completed. Currently, the offensive of the formations and military units of the Joint Group of Forces is underway on all fronts," Gerasimov said.
34 Settlements Liberated in March-April
"During March and April, Russian troops liberated 34 settlements and approximately 700 square kilometres of territory. Since the beginning of this year, 80 settlements and over 1,700 square kilometres of territory have come under our control," Gerasimov said.
Ukraine's Losses Reach 3,000 People in February-March
"In February and March, Ukrainian armed forces units, attempting to halt our offensive, carried out over 170 unsuccessful counterattacks with assault troops, but, having suffered significant losses – over 3,000 personnel and over 160 units of equipment – failed to achieve their objectives," Gerasimov said.
