Indian cricket star Virat Kohli's fandom for Cristiano Ronaldo is no secret. The self-confessed CR7 admirer once again came out in support of the talismanic footballer on Monday, sharing a heartwarming message for him.
It came following Portugal's shock exit from the football World Cup in Qatar during the weekend.
Former European champions Portugal were upset 1-0 by giant killers Morocco at the last 8 stage of the event.
The North African side had earlier sent 2010 world champions Spain out of the competition in the Round of 16.
"No trophy or any title can take anything away from what you've done in this sport and for sports fans around the world. No title can explain the impact you've had on people and what I and so many around the world feel when we watch you play. That's a gift from god," Kohli wrote on Twitter.
"A real blessing to a man who plays his heart out every single time and is the epitome of hard work and dedication and a true inspiration for any sportsperson. You are for me the greatest of all time," he added.
Kohli's words of appreciation for the Portugal skipper came a day after Ronaldo claimed that his lifelong dream of lifting the World Cup trophy was "over" after his national team's elimination from the sport's greatest tournament in the Middle East.
"To win a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. Fortunately, I won many titles of international dimension, including for Portugal," Ronaldo said on Instagram.
"Let's hope that time will be a good counsellor and allow everyone to draw their own conclusions," the 5-time Ballon d'Or winner further stated.
It is pertinent to note that Ronaldo didn't feature in the starting line-up in Portugal's last two games in Qatar after coach Fernando Santos chose to bench him following his indifferent form in Group matches.
Many pundits believe that as he's no longer an automatic pick in Portugal's team, his international career seems to be all but over.
Even his club career is at a crossroads at the moment, considering he's a free agent right now following the termination of his contract with Manchester United in November.
While it has been said that no European club is willing to sign him at this stage when he looks like a pale shadow of his former self, Saudi giants Al Nassr are reportedly willing to offer him a whopping $400 million two-year contract.
