India’s security forces detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kashmir’s Tulibal area of Sopore during a routine sanitization on Tuesday.
The suspected IED was found hidden in a fresh dugout area of 1x1.5 ft near the main road and the bomb disposal team safely diffused the IED by blast method.
“The alertness and swift action of security forces averted any kind of mishap and prevented any disruption to routine lives,” the police said.
On Monday, Kashmir Police Chief Dilbag Singh said that 102 local youths joined the militancy in 2022, of which 86 were neutralized by security forces.
"The militancy is taking its last breath,” Singh said, advising youths to follow the path of peace and prosperity, leaving terrorism.
Over 15,000 people have lost their lives in Kashmir since militancy began in the early 1990s.
