At least 30 students felt sick in Birbhum, a district in the Indian state of West Bengal, after consuming a mid-day meal, media reports said on Tuesday, quoting officials.
The incident took place at a primary school in Mayureswar Block on Monday and was confirmed by the school staff who cooked the food.
But there is more to the story: a snake was allegedly found in one of the containers used to store lentils.
The students were rushed to Rampurhat Medical College and Hospital right after feeling sick. Luckily, all of them have since been discharged so far except one.
The district inspector of primary schools is scheduled to visit the schools of the area on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the students' parents reportedly staged a protest against the school authorities and even vandalized the headmaster's vehicle. Police responded to the situation.
