Indian federal probe agency the CBI conducted raids at 37 locations in the country's Jammu region on Friday in connection with an alleged scam into regional government recruitment procedures.
The case pertains to alleged corruption and irregularities in the written entrance exams for the posts of financial accounts assistant, J&K police sub-inspectors and junior civil engineers in the region's government, a senior CBI official told Sputnik.
Currently, there are allegations of irregularities in at least three annual recruitment examinations involving leaked exam papers, forgery and candidate selection processes.
Of the 37 sites raided by the CBI, 30 are in Jammu city while the rest are in Reasi, Samba, Udhampur and Rajouri, all located in Jammu division of the region, the official told Sputnik.

The alleged irregularities in key government departments undermined the stringent anti-corruption stance taken by the central government, prompting the administration in Jammu and Kashmir to cancel the results of the examinations and order a CBI probe into alleged mass irregularities.
The tests were conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) in March 2022. Their results were declared a month later.
In November last year, the CBI registered a criminal case in the matter.

"The report of the [probe] committee revealed the alleged conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB, private company based at Bangalore (Bengaluru), beneficiaries’ candidates and others causing gross irregularities in conduct of said examination,” the CBI had said in its statement.
