The Indian government on Wednesday called for strong action after another Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Rama was defaced in Canada's Mississauga city with anti-Indian graffiti.
The incident occurred on Tuesday after some miscreants allegedly wrote slogans deriding India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.
"We strongly condemn the defacing of Ram Mandir in Mississauga with anti-Indian graffiti. We have requested Canadian authorities to investigate the incident and take prompt action against the perpetrators," the Indian Embassy said in a statement on Twitter.
The mayor of Canada's Brampton city, Patrick Brown, also took to Twitter, describing the incident as a "potential hate crime" and vowing that Canadians "are taking it very seriously".
In January, a prominent Hindu temple in Canada's Brampton was defaced with anti-India graffiti, sparking outrage among the Indian community.
Last year in September, BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir (temple) in Canada was defaced by 'Canadian Khalistani extremists' with anti-India graffiti.
According to Canada's national statistical data, the country reported a 72 percent spike in hate crimes between 2019 and 2021 on religion, sexual orientation, or race.
