Nepal’s Department of Immigration has put pro-Khalistan propagator Amritpal Singh on its surveillance list following the request of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to cooperate in the search for the fugitive.
According to media reports, Singh has crossed India's border and is now believed to be residing in Nepal.

“We have received a written note along with a copy of his [Singh's] passport from the (Indian) embassy suspecting that Amritpal Singh might have entered Nepal,” Kamal Prasad Pandey, Nepal’s Information Officer, told reporters.

Nepal's press has revealed that the home ministry had put its border on high alert, as it is suspected that Singh may have entered the country from Kapilvastu in western Nepal.

Singh, declared a fugitive by the Indian government, is now seeing multiple cases filed against him, including the National Security Act (NSA), the Arms Act, and criminal cases involving allegations of spreading communal disharmony and attempting to murder and assault policemen, among other charges.
Meanwhile, the Punjab-based Sikh organization Akal Takht Jathedar has urged the state government to release Sikh youths arrested during the ongoing crackdown against Singh and his outfit Waris Punjab De, by Tuesday evening.
The police said that they had released 197 people out of 353 taken into preventive custody on the apprehension of breach of peace and disturbance of law and order in the state.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said an “atmosphere of restlessness in the minds of Sikhs” has been created due to the prevailing situation in Punjab. He alleged that the police are illegally arresting Sikh youths.
