India's social networking site Koo will provide "free lifetime verification" to all prominent persons across the world, the company announced on Friday.
The Bengaluru-based start-up pointed out that "free verification for notable personalities" was launched to put an end to impersonation on Koo.
This would also help them in building trust with their followers and grow their reputation.
"At Koo, we care about being inclusive in thought and action. We provide free lifetime verification for all notable personalities that qualify as a mark of recognition and protect them from impersonators so that they can share their authentic voice with their followers," Koo co-founder Mayank Bidawatka said in a statement.
Taking an indirect dig at its global competitor Twitter, Bidawatka added that Koo would never charge users for its services given that the social media company is an inclusive platform where people can express their thoughts freely.

"Every stakeholder gains from being on Koo. We will never charge for a feature that the internet was supposed to provide for free. Platforms need to enable. Not extract," Bidawatka noted.

According to the young technocrat, it allows users to find their Twitter followers on Koo, meaning they don't have to start from scratch on the platform.
Launched in 2020, Koo is now available in over 100 countries. As per the company, it is the world's second-largest microblog, with over 60 million downloads.
