This week, Finland has officially joined NATO, becoming the bloc's 31st member state.
Let us remind you that the non-expansion of NATO eastwards was one the security guarantees issued by the Russian government in December 2021. The alliance's refusal to follow suit and continued attempts to draw Ukraine into its orbit were the main reasons for the launch of the special military operation in February 2022.
"NATO is expanding towards the borders of Russia, not Russia is approaching its military infrastructure to the borders of NATO. There is a movement in the opposite direction. This movement gives us trouble and worries for our safety," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters o Thursday.
Now, Russia shares a more than 1,300-kilometre border with the alliance.
