Amid the ongoing three-day visit to Assam, India's President Droupadi Murmu took everyone by surprise after she donned an Indian air force uniform on Saturday and flew a sortie on a Sukhoi 30MKI fighter jet at Tezpur Air Force Station.
Murmu was accorded the Guard of Honor by Indian Air Force officers on her arrival.
Subsequently, Murmu became the second female head of state to fly in a warplane after former President Pratibha Patil who took off from Pune Air Force Base in 2009 in a frontline Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
