Russian President Vladimir Putin and Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud have discussed the prospects for Saudi Arabia to cooperate with BRICS during a phone call on Friday, the Kremlin press service reported.
BRICS comprises the nations Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and plans to welcome several other developing countries to join the bloc, including Argentina, Iran, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In 2023, BRICS will be chaired by South Africa.
“[Putin and the Saudi Crown Prince] discussed a range of bilateral issues with an emphasis on further expanding mutually beneficial ties in sectors such as trade, economy, investment and energy."
"They expressed satisfaction with the level of coordination within OPEC+ aimed at ensuring the stability in the global oil market,” the statement added.
Putin also congratulated the kingdom's leadership and citizens on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
