Jailed gangster Tillu Tajpuriya was allegedly beaten to death by rival gang members inside Delhi's Tihar prison on Tuesday morning.
"Today at around 7am, we received information from the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital that two undertrial prisoners who were brought to the hospital from Tihar. One of them, Tajpuriya, was declared dead later and, other is Rohit, who is undergoing treatment and is out of danger," Akshat Kaushal of the Delhi Police said.
The officials added that he was attacked with an iron rod by rival gang members – Yogesh Tonda and his associates Deepak Titar, Rajesh Singh, and Riyaz Khan.
Tajpuriya was the main conspirator in the September 2021 Rohini Court shootout in Delhi, and was allegedly responsible for the murder of gangster Jitender Maan, alias Gogi, in a shootout inside a courtroom at the Rohini court complex.
It is alleged that Tajpuriya instructed his gang members to kill Gogi on the phone and planned his killing. He was arrested in 2016 for multiple crimes and has been in jail since then.
